Encore Bistro Francais

Encore Bistro Francais at 22 Charsworth Avenue in Larchmont, NY. is one of my favorite top 3 restaurants. They serve both lunch and dinner. We eat there almost every week.
It has the ambiance of a small, charming Bistro in Paris, attracting the large French population of Larchmont. The owner, David Masliah is from Lyon, France. He and his staff give us the warmest greeting when we arrive and are quick to bring me the iced tea they know I love! When we first tried the restaurant, they didn’t make iced tea but they gladly made a batch just for me. Since then, it’s on the menu.
As with most French restaurants, the menu includes many wonderful wines. They treat us like family, even offering us dessert on the house.
After doing this a few times I decided to give them a treat! One night I brought a pear clafouti that I made for the staff. They were charmed. I wanted to do something for them in return for all the wonderful meals they had prepared for us.
The menu at the Encore Bistro Francais is changed with the seasons, but some specialties are constant. In the Winter, the specialties of the house are Crepes, Mussels, Cheese fondue, Raclette, Bouef Bourginon, and Coq au Vin.
Everything they cook is delicious, but some of my favorites are their Soupe a l’oignon, the Salade de Chevre Chaud, the Moules Provencales, the Steak Frites, with Blue Cheese Sauce, the Saint Jacques au beurre blanc, and the Cassoulet. For dessert, I recommend the Profiteroles (that have the best chocolate sauce I have ever tasted), the Creme Brulee, the Tarte Tatin, or the Poire Belle Helene (with the same chocolate sauce.)
The prices at the Encore Bistro Francais are reasonable for both the wine and the food, especially when you feel like you’ve been whisked away to France for a few delightful hours.
